Genius Loci is a public artwork that was inspired by the legacy of Sunset Lounge, the "Cotton Club of the South," and the history of the Styx, a community in West Palm that built Palm Beach island and was mysteriously burned to the ground in 1910. An oversized RCA-inspired gramophone of copper sheeting supported by charred wood, Genius Loci invites park visitors to ponder what voices of Palm Beach Black history would be amplified from the earth.
